Elevation of the Chalice in which Christ's side-wound appears
0 references
This leaf may have once been part of a book of hours where it would possibly have prefaced a prayer to Christ wounds, which were popular object of devotion in the late Middle Ages. The image of a chalice holding Christ's wound represents the wine consecrated at the Eucharist that becomes Christ's blood.
