At the foot of the spine, written upside down in a seventeenth century hand, "Fortescue." On f. i: a cancelled pressmark, "G.6" and a later pressmark, "K.5/6," both in the hand of John Egerton (1622-86), 2nd Earl of Bridgewater, and, in modern pencil, the Bridgewater pressmark "522" corrected to "1131." The current Bridgewater pressmark, "34 C 18," on a paper label on the front pastedown.
