    Instructions to Ludovico Orsini, to be sent as Ambassador to Spain by Paolo Giordano Orsini, Duke of Bracciano, who desires the title of "Generale d'Italiani" (f. 9). Text dates from 1567-1579, when Antonio Perez was the Spanish minister in charge of the affairs of Italy (f. 3v). This seems a later fine copy made to win patronage, written in Italy at the end of the sixteenth century.

    The manuscript belonged to H. F. House; his sale, Sotheby's, 21 January 1924, lot 948 to Rosenbach. Acquired by Henry E. Huntington. In 1929 the large volume which had constituted lot 948 was disbound and its component parts given separate numbers: HM 770, HM 771, HM 772, HM 773, HM 1313, HM 1316, HM 1405, HM 774, HM 775, HM 776, RB 180507.
