Physical description: 18 lines per page. Written in nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red. The text is framed in ruled lines in blue, red and gold. Dark cream to biscuit paper, friable, with laid lines visible. Fol. 1-2 mended, with loss of text. Several inscriptions including ownership statements on fol. 1a and 222b. Mainly quaternions.

Decoration: Illuminated headpiece and bandeau with a flower scroll on fol. 1a (partly wanting).

Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Y39" (repeated in inscription in red pencil on fol. 1a).
