The specimens on ff. 2-10 (rectos only) are on vellum leaves guarded in and interleaved with blue tissue. The texts are in French and German, written in a variety of cursive, roman and blackletter scripts, in brown, black, purple and gold.

Ff. 1 and 11 are paper also guarded in. These 2 specimens, on the rectos, are in gold on dark grounds, and are written in a German cursive. The date 1589 appears on f. 1. These leaves may be earlier than the rest.
