The Latin text is written in a tall documentary hand in brown ink in long lines, the initial word "Alexander" decorated with pen-work. The last line gives the place and date of writing: Anagni, 17 June 1161 ("15 kl. Jul anno secundo"). There is no signature. A seal, once affixed through slots in the vellum, is missing.
