Work bound together at least by the time it was given to Battle Abbey by John Newton, cellarer, 1457-59, and abbot, 1463-90. Inscriptions, mid-15th cent., on ff. v and 108, "Liber monasterii sancti martini de bello ex dono [f. 108: domini] Iohannis Nuton Abbatis cum signo IN" followed by a leaf flourish. Newton also owned a Brut Chronicle, now University of Chicago, Joseph Regenstein Library...
