Manuscript note: The initial here may have been lot 154, of the sale of William Young Ottley (1771-1836) at Sotheby’s, 11 May 1838: "The madonna and Infant seated on Throne", one of several attributed in the catalogue to the same painter and described in italics as "very delicately executed". It was sold for £2. 1s. It has clearly been attached to card and was probably framed.
