Written in England, the document concerns lands in Rodes, i.e., Rhodes Green in Menston, NW of Leeds, Yorks WR, near Hawksworth and Guiseley. Dated to the late thirteenth century, or not much later, on paleographic grounds, and on the identification of one of the witnesses, Simon Ward miles (known 1291-1326; Moor 84:155-6).
