One leaf: The numbering of the scenes shows that there were at least three separate sequences of pictures. The first sequence ended with a picture of King David, author of the Psalms, facing to the right. The most plausible explanation is that these are, in fact, prefatory pictures from an extremely elaborate Psalter, with three cycles of full-page illustrations, probably prefixing psalm 1...
