Decoration: Two- to four-line red epigraphic capitals throughout, red paragraph markers throughout in differing styles.

Binding: Contemporary (?) deerskin over boards, blind-fillet design on covers, small head- and tail-flaps over endbands; 14th-century manuscript waste pastedowns inner front and back. 14th-century label on spine reads "Astrologi/ca"; 14th-century title handwritten on cover reads, "Albumasar de med[i]tat[i]o[n]ib[us]". Housed in a clamshell box.

Origin: Written in Austria in 1319, possibly at the Benedictine abbey in Admont; the manuscript was at the abbey by 1380, as it is described in the library catalog compiled that year: "Albumasar de meditacionibus cordis. Incipit. In disponendis. In eodem. Liber absconditorum messahale. Et. Liber convinctionis vel receptionis messahale. Et. Liber alchabicii introductorii iudiciorum astronomie...
