This miniature once marked the beginning of Sext of the Hours of the Virgin. It has been attributed to the Bourges illuminator Jean Colombe (fl. ca. 1463 - 1498). One of the most prolific illuminators of his time, Colombe enjoyed the patronage of the French royal court, especially Charlotte of Savoy (1443 - 1483), wife of Louis XI.
