Origin: Written during the 2nd half of the 15th cent. in Mainz for use in the cathedral church (Dom) of St. Martin, as evidenced by frequent textual references to Mainz, to St. Martin (as "maior ecclesia"), and to the Benedictine abbeys of St. Alban and St. James. Reference on leaf 90r-v to Gerhard, Archbishop of Mainz, 1289-1305, has caused some to date the manuscript to ca. 1305.
