This flourished initial probably begins the first response of the first nocturn of Matins for the feast of St. Andrew (Nov. 30), 'Mox ut vocem domini praedicantes audivit beatus Andreas ...' (As soon as blessed Andrew heard the Lord preaching). The reverse (or true recto) contains text from the invitatory of Matins for the same feast.
